Hi!
I’m A.J., owner & lead designer at Native DesignWorks.

If you feel drawn to nature & love the positive effects produced by the natural world & moss art… you're in the right place.
If you’d like to increase your productivity (or the productivity in your workplace), saving you one of your most valuable resources - time, let’s talk!
If you’d like to improve your health & well being by reducing your cortisol (stress producing hormone) levels, our moss walls can do that!
If you’re interested in creating more joy & happiness in your life through the uplifting benefits of biophilic design, we are here to help you make that happen.
Don’t just take my word for it - scientifically backed research by countless individuals, universities, & organizations have proven the positive benefits that nature has on people.
I am a born & raised 4th generation Miami Native.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt deeply connected to nature, very aware of the positive effects on me during & after a day outside. With Biscayne Bay as my playground, I grew up boating, fishing, & playing watersports. I’ve always appreciated how the refreshing salt water & sunshine would cleanse my soul & revitalize my body.
On Sundays, me & my cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts, parents, & grandparents would gather at my great-grandmother's house for Spaghetti Sunday. Across the street was an old and enormous ficus tree that my cousins & I would play in. Imagining ourselves as Tarzan & Jane of the jungle, we would swing from the roots of the ficus, play hide & seek & dig for lost treasure. I felt at home, protected, & free in that tree.

I’ve also always had this internal draw to interior & exterior design, architecture, & the arts.
Some other passions of mine include cooking, fishing, music, physical fitness & entrepreneurship. Later in life - spirituality, personal growth, & mental fit-ness have played into the mix.
Fueled by creativity, I’ve often felt pulled in many directions. I began my school career in design & landscape architecture & ended in Hospitality Management. I’ve had jobs in both fields, both for myself as well as working for others. I believe we are on a continuous, life-long learning, healing, & growing experience. It took me a long time to realize my combination of interests & skills could serve both my soul & others through biophilic art & design.
My company was built to fulfill this inherent desire to create therapeutic interior environments by connecting people to the outdoor world using natural design elements, like moss.
